March

Carter:
*At his 2 1/2 check up he weighed 32.6 lbs. (73rd Percentile) and was 37 3/4 inches tall (86th percentile).
*He started speech therapy in March. We had his development tested in January. He was above average in every area, except for speech. He had to be below the 7th percentile to qualify for therapy and he scored in the 5th. After having therapy for a month, we have determined that the delay is related to his motor skills (the way he moves his mouth). It's been an interesting process. He has developed some pretty clever ways to work around his speech delay. He has made up gestures and signs and several other ways to communicate what he is trying to say. He is a very smart kid and we are looking forward to what comes out of his mouth when his speech catches up to the rest of his development!
*He loves baby Sophie! He says "Hi Baby!" in the sweetest voice, about 50 times a day. He found a gold elastic string and put it on his head, went over to Sophie, pointed to her headband and said "match!". It was super cute! He also loans her his blanket when she is sad.
*He is OBSESSED with choo-choos. He has managed to find every train related item in our house. When we are driving in the car he insists that I find him trains, or any two things that looked linked together (like a semi truck). He gets very upset if we can't find any.
*Every night when we put him to bed he says "waaa." We have no clue what he means, so we have to make up an answer that is satisfactory to him every. single. night.
*He loves the Darth Vader Star War's music. Every time he sees something Star Wars he starts singing "dun, dun, dun, dun duh-dun." I'm impressed with his singing skills!
*Nathan has taken the "Love and Logic" parenting level to a different level with Carter and it is hilarious! He asks him if he wants his medicine in his nose or in his mouth. (He immediately opens his mouth.) And, he asks him if he wants hand sanitizer in his mouth or on his hands. (He will immediately hold out his hands.) I have to admit, it works like a charm!

Sophie:
*At her 2 month check up she was 10.5 lbs (16th percentile), 22 1/2 inches (36th percentile), and her head was 38 cm (32nd percentile).
*She is such a sweet baby! We started her on some reflux medicine and that has helped her fussiness at eating time. She still struggles to eat. It takes her a very long time to nurse, but it has been slowly improving.
*Since we called Carter Mr. C sometimes, Henry started calling Sophie "Mr. S". Ha ha!
*She finally got her first pedicure.
*Aunt Kristen came to town just to meet her and cousin Lucy.
William and Henry:
*They are the best of friends and definitely know how to push each others buttons. They talk non-stop when we put them to bed. They are always excited to discuss plans, ideas, experiences, etc.
*Henry won 1st Place in the 3D art category at the school's Fine Arts Festival with his Lego creation! He is very talented at building Legos! Unfortunately, several pieces from his masterpiece were stolen while his building was on display. He still spends hours at the Lego table.
*They love playing with their fishing poles inside, waiting for the weather to get warmer.
*Henry spent a good 30 minutes on the phone with Didn one day asking questions and writing down answers about fighter airplanes. I think they both had a good conversation and it was very kind of Didn to indulge him.
*Henry was asked to give a talk in Primary. We like to encourage the boys to help each other. It helps strengthen their relationship and makes them feel good when they have the skills to help their sibling out. So, William helped Henry with his talk and it was absolutely darling! It was so sweet to watch them working together. They both did a fantastic job!
*William had a bad dream one night. He dreamed that he won $1000 and that Henry stole it. He happened to come into our room when Nathan was helping out with one of Sophie's feedings. He told Nathan about his bad dream and then helped him feed Sophie. It was neat experience for him and he was thrilled to help Sophie.
*William is so good with children! He is so sweet with Carter and Sophie. He also loves to play with and take care of his cousins. Carter looks forward to the evenings and weekends when he has time to play specifically with William.
*William has really struggled with being able to focus and complete a task in a timely manner. He has made a lot of progress and tried really hard to find ways to get his homework and piano practicing done with enough time left to play with friends. He does as much of his piano in the mornings as he can (he is a morning person) and does some or all of his homework during slow times in school or at recess. I am very proud of him! He is much happier as he is figuring out how to manage his time better.

Amanda got invited to the VIP opening of the Rack and she took me with her! It was so much fun!! They served delicious hors d'oeuvres and drinks while we shopped. It was fantastic! I could have stayed all night.
I also got to go to Lexi's school as her special guest for Grandparent day. She was so cute and we had a lot of fun! We got to do crafts and she performed some songs and poems.
