One of our favorite traditions is going to the Festival of Trees. We met Nathan after school one day and caught the festival for a couple hours. The gingerbread houses were our favorite again. We all loved the replica of the Disney's Haunted Mansion. Henry fell in love with a Nintendo quilt (because he thought it was Minecraft).
Henry also discovered icicles this year. He collected quite a few and put them out on the front porch for sale. He continues to be quite a mischievous kid. I got a text one day from one of his school friend's mom offering to babysit my children while I visited my husband in the hospital! I had no idea what she was talking about. Henry had recently been to the hospital for a chest xray for pneumonia, so my first thought was that his friend misunderstood the story. I asked Henry about the text message and he finally confessed that he had told his friends that his dad was in the hospital! That was an embarrassing lie to correct...
A couple weeks later I went into the bathroom to check on Henry as he was brushing his teeth. I found that he had not even started. I told him to hurry and began to get William's toothbrush ready. I barely noticed that William's toothbrush had a clear substance carefully placed on the bristles. It was hair gel! Henry had put gel on William's toothbrush and was going slowly so he could catch William's reaction when he came in to use his toothbrush and tasted the gel. What a kid!!
We also had fun making gingerbread houses one night. All of the boys worked very hard to create masterpieces. Carter was so cute and would tell me exactly where he wanted me to put the icing and then would carefully choose a piece of candy to put on. Henry had a Minecraft house with a hot lava pool. William had a really cute walkway and chocolate Santa at the front of his house. Unfortunately, I left for a couple minutes to take C to the bathroom and most of the houses were destroyed. Oh well.
Carter continues to be a sweetheart. He is getting more into the 2 year old independent, opinionated stage. He still LOVES Mickey Mouse and choo-choos. We potty trained him over Thanksgiving and he is doing really well with it. Most days he seems to be excited about having a baby sister soon. He will touch my belly and say "baby!" and "c'mon baby!" as he motions for her to come and play. It's really sweet. We'll see how he does when she's actually here invading his momma and space.
Everyone has had fun playing in all the snow we've gotten this year. The sledding hill in our backyard is a little slow, so William and Henry figured out how to stand on the sled and ride it down the hill that way. They had quite a bit of fun doing it!
William is growing up quickly! He is a very sweet older brother to Carter. He loves to take care of him, play with him, and read to him. He continues to take very good care of his gerbils. He just loves to have fun! So, he doesn't love practicing the piano, cleaning up, etc.
Overall, we all have a lot of fun together! It's fun to watch the different personalities of each of our children. They keep us pretty entertained and exasperated at the same time.
