Disneyland!!

We had so much fun on our California trip! We had originally planned to go in February, but we had to reschedule for April. We spent the first half of the trip in Newport Beach and at Disneyland. We flew in Monday night and drove to our hotel. Somehow William, at age 3 1/2, has become a backseat driver. We got in our rental car and he started to repeat whatever the GPS to Nathan. He would say things like "Turn left, Daddy."  "Turn left here! Right here!" "Whoa! That was a close one." The next morning when we got in the car to go to Disneyland he was really concerned that we didn't have the GPS turned on. We told him that I knew the way to Disneyland so we didn't need it. Nathan called it "MommyPS."

Tuesday: Our first day at Disney. We went to California Adventure first. We got there before the park opened. We went straight to the Toy Story Mania ride. The boys loved it and were so excited to be there. I was kind of surprised at how much Henry got into the rides. He was really impatient and every time the line stopped he would yell "go, go, go!" We had to pry him off of each ride. He never wanted to get off. After we would pull him off a ride he would throw himself on the ground and cry because he was so upset! It was so funny! People would just laugh and walk around him. For lunch we shared one of those giant turkey legs. It was pretty good. We went to a show called Disney Junior Live On Stage. It was all of the boys' favorite cartoons as puppets. William even got to keep some tissue paper gold doubloons from Jake and the Neverland Pirates. They watched the whole thing and sang along with the songs. Our favorite rides at California Adventure were Soarin', Toy Story, and the water rapids ride. We did all the fun rides in California Adventure and then went over to Disneyland. Buzz's Astroblasters was probably the favorite ride of the day. We also had lots of fun riding Dumbo, Autopia, Nemo's submarine, and visiting the character's houses at Toontown. We stayed until late that night to see the Fantasmic show. By the end, we were exhausted and sore, but so happy!!

Wednesday: This was our scheduled "rest and recover day." We slept in and went out to breakfast at Coco's. We drove around Corona Del Mar and spent some time at the beach. William remembered the beach and had lots of fun playing in the sand. Henry, on the other hand, thought we were trying to torture him. First, he screamed so hard when we tried to put his flip flops on, so we took those off. Then, he did not want to touch the sand at all. He sat down and put his feet on Nathan's legs so he didn't have to feel it at all! He was especially upset when Nathan took him to feel the ocean water. After the beach, we went back to our hotel and had nap time. Then, we went swimming and waited for Kristen and Andrew to meet up with us. We hung out with them that night and headed to bed to prepare for another day at the Magic Kingdom.

Thursday: We back to Disneyland with Kristen, Andrew, and Jaxon. We had lots of fun with them! We all loved Buzz's Astroblasters and rode it several times. It was fun to show them around the park. William and Henry got to each pick a special toy. William had been planning for weeks to get Zurg's gun, but they didn't have that so he chose Buzz's gun. Henry chose a set of Cars with Lightning Mcqueen, Sally, and Mater. Kim and Jenni said how cute the Peter Pan ride is and I didn't ever remember riding on it. It was one of the longest lines we waited in, but we all LOVED it! It's definitely one of my favorite rides now. Thanks for the recommendation :-).

Friday: It was time to say goodbye to our amazing hotel. We checked out and drove by the Newport Beach temple for a quick picture. Then, we headed up to Santa Barbara to stay with the Van Noys. We stopped in LA at a little children's museum to play and to have lunch. It ended up being such a cool place! They had an airplane cockpit, a firetruck, a boat, an ambulance and hospital, a grocery store, a garden, and some other really cool things to play with that I'm sure I'm forgetting. The boys loved it. We finally made it to Santa Barbara in the afternoon, much later than we were anticipating due to bad traffic. We had a great night walking around Santa Barbara's main street and getting frozen yogurt.
